My mother raised her children with this philosophy: You give your kids roots and you give them wings—and not at age twenty-six.
Since humans are physiologically adults by the time they hit puberty, shouldn't our educational system be geared to grant a high school degree at the same time? Then they could move out, get a job or go to college, and start making their own way when they were meant to. The natural tendency of teens to strive for independence supports this approach and much wasted time would be saved.
If you think this can't be done, do some history reading and discover that most cultures have operated this way in the past.
