Barra Addresses Ignition Switch Problem
(Detroit, MI) -- General Motors CEO Mary Barra is not hiding from or skirting issues raised by an internal investigation into faulty ignition switches that prompted a major recall. She says GM and its employees are, "absolutely owning the report." Speaking before this week's annual shareholders meeting in Detroit, Barra said the automaker expects to estimate the cost of a compensation program for those affected by the problem by the end of this quarter. Thirteen deaths and 54 crashes have now been linked to the faulty switch.
