Extreme Cold Poses Serious Health Risks

(Lansing, MI) -- The bitter cold is hanging on for another day throughout much of the nation. High temperatures in places like Grand Rapids, Michigan are expected to remain in the single digits today and Dr. Kathryn Imberg of Lansing's Sparrow Hospital warns unprotected skin can be frostbitten in just five minutes.
Frostbite begins with numbness or tingling and progresses to a loss of feeling in the affected areas. Dr. Imberg adds that your feet, hands, and face, including your eyes, are the most susceptible.
