Detroit Offers Parking Ticket Amnesty

Detroit Offers Parking Ticket Amnesty
(Detroit, MI) -- Drivers who have old parking tickets in the City of Detroit will be able to pay less to clear their fines under a new amnesty program. The city announced yesterday that fines for tickets three years or older will be cut 30-percent under the program with runs from May 1st through the 16th. Motorists already making scheduled payments will be able to participate, but those who have had their vehicles booted will not. The amnesty comes as the city prepares to hike parking fees by June 1st. The city has also announced it will get more aggressive in collecting fees and will take actions such as issuing holds on driver's licenses, filing civil lawsuits and impounding vehicles.
