Man Will Stand Trial In Murder Of Elderly Neighbor

(Novi, MI) -- A 46-year-old Novi man will stand trial in connection with the death of his elderly neighbor. Yesterday, a judge found there was enough evidence to send Peter Jones to trial on charges of first-degree and felony murder in the January 13th death of 84-year-old Bernice Schaufele . Schaufele's body was found in her condominium by her daughter who had not been able to contact the woman by telephone. Police became suspicious of Jones, who is on parole for manslaughter, because of the way he was acting at the crime scene and found items reportedly belonging to Schaufele in his residence. Jones is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail.
