Partnership To Address Detroit Blighted Commercial Buildings
(Detroit, MI) -- Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is touting a decision by the owners of the Ambassador Bridge to tear down a vacant former office building on one of their properties. Duggan yesterday called the Detroit International Bridge Company an example for other corporations with empty buildings in the city. The site on Fort Street could be used for expansion of a DIBC maintenance and repair facility. State Representative Rashida Tlaib objected to the demolition event, telling "The Windsor Star" that the Moroun family who owns the land is the "biggest blighter in Detroit."
