Senators Probe Veterans Problems
(Washington, DC) -- Lawmakers are digging into growing problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Opening a Senate hearing, Vermont independent Bernie Sanders cited reports of scheduling problems that may have led to the deaths of at least 40 veterans at the VA's health clinic in Phoenix. Embattled VA Secretary Eric Shinseki is the lead witness at the hearing. Secretary Shinseki has ordered a comprehensive review of all VA health clinics. Shinseki, a retired Army general, has rejected calls to resign.
