(Lansing, MI) -- The state is giving its conditional approval to the Wayne County deficit elimination plan. County Executive Robert Ficano says the move is a step in the right direction to avoid the possibility of an appointed emergency manager. The plan to deal with a 175-million-dollar deficit includes cuts to wages and benefits and the sale of the county's wastewater treatment system. County officials continue to work with the state Department of Treasury and commissioners could vote on the proposal at their next meeting on May 15th.
