(Farmington Hills, MI) -- Trial continues today in the case of a Farmington man accused of killing and dismembering his girlfriend at their home in February 2013. William Dhont is facing first-degree murder and mutilation charges in the death of 29-year-old Kaitlin Hehir . Yesterday, prosecutors said the pair were fighting when he strangled Hehir and then cut up her body in an attempt to hide it in their home. The defense countered by saying Dhondt did not to plan to kill his girlfriend and snapped during an argument fueled by alcohol. The trial is expected to last one week.
